WHAT'S NEW AT RISING HIGH ACADEMY

Calculus Instructor:  Mr. James Mims

Mr. Mims is a graduate of Morehouse College and The University of Virginia majoring in Mathematics and Systems Engineering respectively. He has over 20 years of experience in Corporate America (CA) and over 15 years of Instructional Mathematics Application (IMA). CA experience includes, but not limited to: Corrective Action Project Management, Quality Control, Mobile Systems Program Manager, System Engineering for Mobile Networks, and Switch Database Engineering. IMA experience includes, but not limited to: PSAT, SAT, & ACT Prep; Learning Support Mathematics, Pre-Algebra, College Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, and Quantitative Analysis. Mr. Mims has worked for some major corporations that might not carry the prestige that they once had but a few include: Exxon Production Research Company, AT&T Bell Laboratories, and Motorola Inc.

Mr. Mims enjoyed his time at those companies but relishes the opportunity to teach Mathematics whenever possible. He has received several awards concerning deadlines, production levels, etc.; however, he cherishes the Adjunct Professor of the Year awards he received from different universities and came to realize one of his loves is teaching Mathematics. Mr. Mims believes every student should be allowed to ask questions when things are not clear. Because he believes Mathematics is the easiest subject to learn and needs you to trust that he wants students to succeed.

Mr. Mims could see Mathematics, feel it, argue it, accept it, appreciate it, and use it just to list a few reasons. He found that Mathematics is all around us; we just need "whatever the concept is" explained in terms we can understand or relate to.  You will find that Mr. Mims is approachable and always tries to answer your questions within 24 hours – if not immediately - as simply as possible.  Furthermore, he will also do his best to relate the Math Concepts being taught to things in everyday life.  He will also show that we need to sometimes look beyond our results when making decisions.

Here at Rising High Homeschool Academy,  we are fortune to have Mr.  Mims as a Mathematics instructor.  Take advantage of this opportunity to help your child attain success in Mathematics by signing up for math sessions.
